ROUNDTABLE | Responsible Innovation and the education of future AI practitioners

As part of an EU-funded initiative on Promoting Responsible Innovation in AI for Peace and Security, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) organised a two-hour roundtable on Responsible innovation and the education of future AI practitioners. The purpose of this roundtable was to explore how responsible innovation can be further promoted in the education of future AI practitioners. It examined how STEM students destined for a career in AI can gain awareness of the societal impact of technology by receiving formal training on responsible innovation as part of their university education. This roundtable aimed to be a platform for professors, researchers, and curriculum developers to reflect and discuss existing good practices and look at how they can be disseminated, as well as identify gaps in the education on responsible innovation.

The roundtable took place on Tuesday, 19 November, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the FARI Auditorium, located on the 4th floor of BeCentral, Cantersteen 12, 1000 Brussels.

This event was held as part of the FARI Brussels Conference 2024, under the theme ‘AI, a Public Good?’ – FARI Partners Day: Collaborating for Greater Impact.
