General Questions

  • The conference took place on 18 November, from 9 am to 6:30 pm.

    The conference continued with a unique Partners' Day on 19 November, from 8.30 am to 7 pm.

  • Yes, the FARI Conference was free and open to all.

  • Registration was open until Friday, November 15, 14:00 CET.

  • November 18 - FARI Brussels Conference

    The conference was held at Studio Flagey, Place Sainte-Croix 1050 Brussels.

    November 19 - FARI Partners' Day

    The FARI Partners' Day was held at BeCentral, Cantersteen 12, 1000 Brussels.

  • Please bring a copy of your Eventbrite registration (e-copy or printed) and your ID.

  • The conference caters to public, private, and academic sectors. In previous years, the FARI Brussels Conference has attracted diverse participants interested in the discussion of AI for the common good and sessions are carefully developed to serve the interests of researchers, administrators and policy makers, entrepreneurs and citizens.

  • Both days of the conference were in English to cater to everyone attending, from Brussels and beyond.

  • No, FARI 2024 Conference was an in-person event. However, please stay tuned on FARI’s YouTube channel for the highlights of the conference.

Program

  • November 18

    FARI - AI for the Common Good Institute is a non-profit university institute on AI, data and robotics focused on the Common Good. We are jointly initiated by two Brussels universities (VUB & ULB) - uniting interdisciplinary expertise across 10 research groups on AI, data, robotics, social sciences, ethics, and law.  

    We do research and build bridges with public administrations, industry, and citizens, promoting sustainable AI, data & robotics with a focus on urban and public priority domains such as health, mobility, sustainable robotics, climate and energy, participatory and inclusive society.

    The FARI Conference Partners' Day will be organized under the FARI umbrella by a wide range of partners, including European institutions, private companies, Belgian and international organizations, as well as research associations.

  • With the theme AI, a Public Good?, this year's FARI 2024 Conference aimed to address these pressing issues and explore the potential of AI, data, and robotics for the public good. It aimed to answer pressing questions: Are these technologies developing in a socially acceptable and sustainable direction? How do we make sure AI helps everyone, and not just a few? Is there such a thing as AI, Data and Robotics for Public Good?

  • November 18

    6 sessions were held, 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. The morning session focused on the latest advancements and trends in AI, data, and robotics, providing participants with valuable insights into the current landscape. The afternoon session shifted towards exploring the future potential of AI for the public good, featuring perspectives from leading experts in various sectors.     November 19

    12 sessions and workshops were organized, with 6 sessions open to the public. These sessions addressed a diverse range of topics, including the role of AI in urban development, its integration into the arts, and leveraging big data for innovation. They also explored responsible AI practices, governance, and fostering collaboration across Europe.

  • The 2024 conference brought experts from public, private, and academic sectors who are engaging in initiatives on AI for the common good.

  • Yes, participants were encouraged to network during breaks and the cocktail receptions.

Logistics and Accessibility

  • November 18

    Studio Flagey is accessible by public transport through Tram 81 (direct access to Brussels-South station) and Buses 38, 59, 60, 71 (direct access to Brussels Central station with bus 38 & 71).

    November 19

    BeCentral is accessible by public transport through train (Brussels Central), Metro 1 & 5 and Buses (direct access with bus 29, 63, 65 & 66)

  • We recommend coming by public transportation to avoid traffic.

    November 18

    Should you need to come by car, parking is possible at Parking Indigo Place Flagey, Proxiparking - Flagey, and Zenpark - Bailli Ibis Styles. Reservations are recommended for Parking Indigo and Proxiparking and are required in Zenpark.

    November 19

    Should you need to come by car, parking is possible at BePark or OnePark.

  • Both locations, Flagey and BeCentral, are accessible for people with reduced mobility (PMR). To ensure the best possible experience, please contact us by email in advance.

  • Yes, lunch was provided on both days, along with morning and afternoon coffee breaks. Each day concluded with a cocktail reception, offering additional opportunities for networking and relaxation.
